2003 - 2004 Balchen / Post Awards
2004 Balchen/Post Awards Presented Outstanding Achievement in Airport Snow and Ice Control At the 38th Annual International Aviation Snow Symposium on May 12th, 2004, in Buffalo, NY; awards were presented to the "snow crews" of the airports in the Snow Belt for their dedicated efforts in maintaining their airports in safe and operational status during the 2003-2004 winter seasons. This is the twenty eight consecutive year that such awards have been presented. All categories of airports - commercial, general aviation and military - throughout the United States and Canada compete for these awards. Applications are submitted by the airports on behalf of the local work force in recognition of their efforts of keeping the airport operationally safe throughout the season. Recommendations for an award come from users of airports, airlines, airline pilots, general aviation, corporate pilots, the military and even non-airport staff such as hotel owners, parking lot and ground transportation operators, chambers of commerce as well as the airports themselves. The 2003 - 2004 Awards were presented to the following airports: Small General Aviation (Less than 50,000 total operations per year)Medium Commercial (100,000 to 200,000 operations per year) Large Commercial (Over 200,000 operations per year) Military Airport
