Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award



 


 The Northeast Chapter, American Association of Airport Executives (NEC/AAAE) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Award recognizes airports and organizations who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion at their airport, organization and/or in the aviation community. The purpose of this award is to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion integration into aviation organizations and the aviation community.

The awards ceremony will be held at the 2023 Annual Conference in August. If your organization is selected, we will ask that you submit a video promoting your organization’s commitment to diversity prior to the awards ceremony. Video content must be 1-3 minutes long.

Categories:

  • Airport Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award 
    Any small-hub, medium-hub, large-hub, general aviation, non-hub and reliever airport in the           Northeast Region

  • Airport Partner Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Award
    Any organization or company currently supporting an airport in the Northeast region.

Areas of Achievement

To be considered for the Airport Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award, applicants may be judged in areas of achievement like the following criteria:

  1. General DE&I Achievement:
    • Demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion at their airport and/or in the aviation community through training and collaborative partnerships
    • Demonstrates a commitment to creating a culture of inclusion within their areas of influence
    • Implements initiatives which cultivate/advance/model diversity, equity, and inclusion within the airport community
    • Demonstrates successful diversification of minority executive leadership 
      2. Workforce Achievement:
    • Employee composition with clearly defined goals for broader employee diversity
    • Diverse representation at all levels of the organizational structure
    • Diversity, equity, and inclusion training for employees, including integration into other training programs

 

To be considered for the Airport Partner Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award, applicants may be judged in areas of achievement like the following criteria:

  1. General DE&I Achievement:
    • Demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion at their organization and/or in the aviation community through training and collaborative partnerships
    • Demonstrates a commitment to creating a culture of inclusion within their areas of influence
    • Implements initiatives which cultivate/advance/model diversity, equity, and inclusion within the airport community
    • Demonstrates successful diversification of minority executive leadership 

     3. Business Diversity:

    • Innovative approaches to diversity of suppliers, sub-consultants, sub-contractors
    • Community outreach to diverse businesses
    • Collaboration or partnership with external organizations
    • Fosters Mentor-Protégé relationships

 


 

Instructions for Submitting Nominations

Nominations must be completed and submitted by 11:59 PM ET on June 2, 2023.

  • The entry must include:
    • A completed nomination form.
    • Demonstration of your airport or organization’s commitment to promoting and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion by providing evidence of the areas of achievement in the last twelve (12) months. Written submissions must not exceed 500 words.
    • A written statement of no more than two pages from Senior Leadership affirming the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
